At once poignant and
witty, Fabulous Anger is a provocative body of work that
explores the commodification of violence. Combining image and
text in a format familiar to advertising — the fashion layout
— Kustera takes a critical look at the way violence is presented
through the media. "As a contemporary society we have become so
accustomed and numbed to witnessing violence and social deviations
that it has become a part of our everyday experience," states
the artist, and through his politicization of the fashion layout,
Kustera questions our threshold for its acceptable presentation.
Kustera has been included in several influential international
exhibitions, including two Venice Bienniales. His artwork has
been featured in an award-winning annual report for Progressive
Insurance, as computer animation for rock band, U2's Pop Mart
tour and wall installation for Barney's Co-op stores nationwide.
